THE HEALING PROPERTIES OF COMMON OAK

Quercus robur commonly known as oak is a plant that has been used for medicinal purposes and as food for millennia.  In traditional medicine dried oak bark and leaves were used for the making of different remedies.  

Modern science confirmed that oak can reduce fever, can reduce skin inflammation; has antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, anti-viral properties. Also oak can be used to get rid of worms and other parasites. In modern medicine the bark, leaves and acorns are used for making different products. 

Oak tea is used for prevention and healing of diarrhea, cold, fever, cough, bronchitis, loss of appetite, inflammation of the skin, bleeding gums, indigestion. 

Using oak bark externally (as cream or tincture) can treat burns and cuts, skin inflammation, bruises, wrinkles, frost bite, excessive palm and feet sweating. You can also treat these problems with fresh oak leaves. 

Caution: Oak bark tea can be consumed 4-5 days, and can be applied to the skin up to 2-3 weeks. If you overuse oak bark tea you can cause some damage to your health. If you have a heart condition, kidney or liver problems don`t consume oak bark tea. Consult with your doctor before use.
