ST. JOHN`S WORT OIL
(How to make it and use it)
The use of St. John`s Wort
oil dates back to Ancient Greece and it was used as medicine. In the medieval
ages was used as a folk medicine for treating wounds. Nowadays is a popular
remedy throughout Europe, and it`s popularity is growing worldwide.
St. John`s Wort oil is
commonly used to treat skin conditions. You can buy the oil or you can make it yourself.
Here is the recipe for the oil:
You need to use fresh
plants, it doesn`t work if the plant is dry. Only the flower buds before they
have opened can be used. You can see them in this picture.

Put the buds in a jar,
bottle, a container that you can close tightly and is transparent. Fill the
container with an oil of your choosing (olive, sunflower etc). Stir the buds
and the oil, close the container well and place it in the sun. Check the oil
for several weeks to make sure that the buds are below the surface of the oil. Once
the oil turns a dark red color it is ready for use. Strain the flowers, put the
oil in another container and keep it in a dark cool location.
The recommended use for
the oil is three times a day for 16 days.
Caution: When you apply the oil on the skin don`t
expose yourself to direct sunlight.
